Washington Redskins Choose New Name & Trademark

On July 29th, the Washington Redskins (Pro Football, Inc.) filed several new trademark applications at the USPTO for the name "Washington Football Team." The decision for the name change comes on the heels of recent widespread pressure by the public urging the team to change its name to something less offensive to Native Americans. In line with tradition, the new logo displays the team's iconic burgundy color.

Whether or not we'll get to watch the team play this year remains to be seen...
